Safe Sanctuaries is a social structure consistent with the gospel allowing our sanctuaries, classrooms, mission encounters, camps and retreats, and all spaces where we gather to worship and serve God to be places of trust. God calls us to make our churches safe places, protecting children and other vulnerable persons from sexual abuse. Safe Sanctuaries is more than just implementing a policy with guidelines and procedures. Safe Sanctuaries creates an environment with boundaries and safe space for children youth, and vulnerable adults, and the adults who work with them.
FUMC has written and implemented the Safe Sanctuary Policy available below. As you will see, through training, and background checks, we strive to make our church a safe, warm and welcoming environment for everyone.
